By Our Work

We wanted to give you a peak at a little job that rushed through the studio over the past two days. This project was both consuming and rewarding to work upon (the best kind). The 3rd International Urban Design Conference Designs On Our Future, is being held at the National Convention Centre, Canberra from the 30th August to 1st September. The conference will examine how our new cities are conceived and our existing ones are adapted, re-designed and managed.

As part of the conference, there is a poster exhibition and our client, Hames Sharley, is exhibiting 2 posters to compliment their discussion papers that are also being presented.

Welcome City of Fremantle

By Latest News

We are pleased to be able to officially welcome the City of Fremantle to Axiom.

We’re looking forward to working closely with Fremantle City officers over the coming months. Unfortunately we cannot reveal just what we will be doing for them as yet, but rest assured it will be the start of something truly historic.

For our international visitors;
Fremantle was established in 1829 as a port for the fledgling Swan River Colony and was the major city in Western Australia for much of its early history. It was the first port of call in Australia for many migrants and visitors and today Fremantle sustains a rich mixture of cultures and nationalities. Fremantle is Western Australia’s major commercial port and handles the majority of the State’s imports and exports. Fremantle boasts the best preserved example of a 19th century port streetscape in the world with its world-famous heritage buildings and a fascinating maritime and convict history.

Axiom re-brand Axiom.

By Latest News

You may have noticed we look a little different today. Yes, we’ve rebranded.

Our previous identity had served us well for the last 4 or 5 years, but we felt it was time to update our brand to be more reflective of our culture and of the organism we have become. We’ve opted for a simple wordmark, bold but not brash, strong yet approachable, purposely confident, credible and timeless.

Our web site is also going to get a major overhaul shortly. The blog will be kept but will no longer be the main focus of our web presence. Instead we’re developing an image-driven front-end that will feature a selection of our most recent projects for your viewing pleasure (yes, we’re finally going to have a portfolio on our website!)

It’s just gone nine months since Ben (our Design Director) and his wife Chellé found out they would be doing their bit to help propagate the species. We are happy to report they have produced their finest creation yet, a beautiful little bundle of joy by the name of Amelia.

Amelia came into the world on the 27th of August. Mother and baby are doing well, father is getting used to the idea of long-term sleep deprivation.

INGAL EPS to undergo a Mini-Makeover

By Latest News

We are all aware that brands can be likened to a person. And from time-to-time those brands, like people can need a spot of freshening up. We’ve been managing the INGAL EPS brand for over 12 years, the core elements of the identity are solid, timeless and maintain high brand recognition. However it was time for a bit of a mini-makeover to ensure the brand architecture remained current and relevant.

We’ve been tasked with delivering three major projects slated for completion by the end of June 2009.

Here’s a little snippet from an article on the BBC news website – part of the Changing Cityscapes series and this time focussing on architecture and town planning in Manchester.

“In fact, if it isn’t iconic or iconic-in-the-making, then it probably won’t get passed by the Planning Department.”
